One of the really nice feature of Slic3r is microlayering.

You can set your edge to use 0.1mm resolution, and the infill to 0.2-0.4mm , this allows fine prints at half the time.
For now S3D use same resolution for edges & infill.

Would be neat to add this to S3D.

S3D already has this. For example, if you were printing 0.1mm outlines, you could tell it to print the infill every 3 layers to get 0.3mm thick infill

You'll find that setting in the INFILL tab, as shown. I usually use the HIGH quality setting to print a smooth exterior, and then enter "Print Sparse Infill every 2 Layers".
