Manual support problem

I have just posted a possible issue I found processing http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:44579

Now, I have another little issue with this file: I don't know (but have an idea) what exactly creates the issue, but, with this model it should be easily reproducable.

Try to add manual support to the inside of the "Secret Heart". I know, with bridging this should not really be needed, but, just assume that it is. I cut the model at z=?? and tried to add support. Then Inoticed that the automatic generation of the supports works just as intended, and it's easily possible to remove single piles. But if you try to (re-)add a pile, this won't succeed.

I suppose (but that's just an assumption) that it has something to do with the (invisible) top lid, so the software thought that I wanted to add a support pile on top of this upped lid. If this really is the reason, I think the remedy would be to ignore invisible geometry when doin the heuristics to find where the user wants to place a support pile.

Best regards

Re: Manual support problem

I know this post is late, but I have been emailing support about this very thing. Seems not very many people either notice the issue or really care. I would think it would be something more people would have picked up on since...to me anyway...placing support from the z axis using the cross section feature would be one of the best ways to place support.
