Why is Simplify making this weird travel path and wipe?

if I'm interpreting the color coding correctly, what's happening here is a series of really strange and unnecessary travel movements followed by wiping a random section of the print, more crazy travels and then a retract. What in the world is going on here. I can't even begin to make sense of this.
