Simplify3D User Forum

I'm getting clogs caused by way too much retraction. So to test I turn off retraction with the checkbox. Yet retraction still shows in the preview and the generated Gcode includes retraction.
Is this software slowly getting infested with self induced bugs???

Retraction on: Retraction ioff: And the gcode files are over 100K different in size....so there must be some instructions missing in the smaller file - the one with NO RETRACTIONS!

Mine won’t do that. On my system the retraction does not turn off.
The little bubble markers stay on and the resulting gcode includes the retractions.

Try unticking the circled tick box.

As I wrote above..I unchecked that first. No effect at all!
I went back and rebooted. I loaded a completely different stl file and set a completely different printer with different firmware and simplify3d still inserts retraction into both the preview and the gcode.
I even turned it off in the other spots in the process for layer changing.
Looks to me like bugs are getting introduced!
That can easily happen with fallow, neglected software which is never updated even though the platforms OS is getting updated.

I went to my MacbookPro which I intentionally NEVER update. I keep it that way so I can still use 32bit apps and boot camp. On that platform it works! On my always updated MacPro it doesn’t.
I believe I am correct that due to this company’s neglect and lack of updates that bugs are appearing simply because the computers operating system is getting updated while Simplify3d remains fallow. They do not bother to verify that the application still works correctly when Msoft or Apple perform their regular updates to Windows or MacOS.
That means we are getting close to a time when this application.may not function at all.

I have use this software on windows 10 and mac with apple silicon M1and Montarey 12.2 macOS without any retract issue.
