MakerBot 1 dual process setting doesn't have extruder choice

I have a new to me MakerBot 1 dual extruder clone and loaded the profile. But the process setup window does not allow a choice of which extruder to use. It lists both toolheads and shows the settings for each, but nowhere has a box to select which one you want to use. The temp for the right shows 215 for PLA and the left 0. But what if I want to use the left instead? I have tried the MakerBot 2 dual and that DOES have a box to select which toolhead and it seems to work. But that one has a different x/y stepper drive ratio (88.5 vs 94.1) such that the prints come out ~6% small.
