Firts i have to say hello to all board uses :)

I am new here in the forum and i hope somebody could helt me to fix my problem.
I have a mendelmax 2.5 printer with the simplify3d slicing and printing software.
I print since about 4 month but i startet two weeks ago with the simplify3d software.

I pring mainly technicial parts.

So my problem is that i have a space between my outher wal of some objekts. The strange thing is that in one model i have sometimes on the right side a 0.3mm space in a 2mm wall.
i adjusted the extrusion with to 0.49mm and normally i have then 4 lines for an 2mm thick wall... On the slicing software it also show the 4 lines but on the printed part they are missing....

And the second problem is that the Top layer does not look very nice :((

Noozle dia: 0.5
multipler: 0.92
extrusion with: 0.49
Solid/Top layer: 4
Outher perimeters: 4
Infill: 30%
first layer high: 90%
retrac: 1,2mm
coast at end: 0.4mm

many thanks in advance and best regards from Austria/Europe

If it shows 4 lines in gcode preview then the gcode is being produced to print the 4 lines and that is how the printer should print it. Are you sure you see the 4 lines in the preview? Another way around this is to set perimeters to 1 then turn up your infill a little. Your top surfaces probably don't look good because you have the ext width set smaller than your nozzle. Set that back to auto or a manual value that is higher.

Hey jimc

Thanks for very fast answer.
I will test the settings today :)
I think the "manual extrusion with" is the key... In the meantime i found an fail in the drawing i get from my cad drawer... That was the reason why i set it to manual...
But in the meantime i get repared cad drawing and i forgott to change the manual / auto setting.

I will report after the test here in forum.
Thanks to all

Hello :)

After a nice printing weekend i think one of my problems is fixed !! Thanks to jimc !!

First i removed my nozzle. Then i let extrude the extruder 100cm of filament. Then i measured again and correct the motor Steps until 100cm extrusion are 100cm real filament.
Befor i calibrated with 100cm i always calibratet with 10cm but i think that is not correct enought for me beacause may parts all need between 60 and 100 meter of filament.
When i compare the 10cm and the 100cm extrusion, bettwer sayed after the 10cm calibration i was wrong about 4cm when i extrude 100cm !!!
butr now is correct :))

Then i make an cube with 25mm x 25mm outside. I make no infill and set the extrusion with to 0.5mm and i start printing....

After that i correct the extrusion multiplikator until the 0.5 are 0.5 measuered.

Then i set one outer parameter and 40%infill and 4 top and solid layers with layer hight 0.3mm

And that is the result !!!

But as you can see in the last pictures i have some blobs in my part..

maybee anyone has an solution for that problem ???

My settings are:
Primary extruder:
Retraction distance: 1,8mm
Extra Restart distance: 0.00mm
retraction vertical lift: 0.00mm
retraction speed: 1800.00 mm/min
Coast at end: yes
Coasting distance: 0,4mm

infill:
Interior Fill percentage: 40%
outher overlap : 15%
minimum infill lenghth: 5,00mm
print space infill every : 1 layer
use infill placement: yes

i will be nice if anyon could help to fix my last problem :))

thanks for all best regards from cold Austria ;)

Turn the wipe feature on to tue default 5mm and slowly raise the coasting up until that goes away. Also make the layer start point begin from a specific location. Make that spot a corner of your box.

Hy jimc
Thanks for answer... I will test the settings today and i tomorrow i can post score :)

From yesterday until today i printed the maker torture test and here is my part....

It looks ok but not good !! I think it will be much work until it will look perfekt.

By the way jimc... Very nice Homepage and very very good painting and customizing work !!!! Amazing !!!

I printed this test with 3600mm/min speed and the same settings like the first part...
Now i change the settings to 2000mm/min, wipe on...
