Poor french V5 translation

Hello

The French translation of V5 is poor... sometimes it looks like it was done with an automatic translator...

The V4 one was really better, despite the obsession to translate everything, even English terms that have become the standard in 3D printing technical discussions like for example "bed" ( Canadian automatic translator ? ;-) ;-) )

in V5:

"support" is translate " les soutiens": nobody use that word...

"modèle d'importation" is not the same meaning that "importer des modéles"

"modèle de dépôt au lit"doesn't mean anything at all, nor does "drop the model on the bed". "Poser le modèle sur la table" from V4 was way better

ans so on...

Is it possible to open the access of the translation table, in order to make it a custom one ?

Do you accept advices about translation for a future update ? ( I did the french translation from "David Laser Scanner "a long while ago...)

I can, also, asked for help on french S3D forum to chose the better words

in the meantime I return to English version ;-)

Re: Poor french V5 translation

I know the team would love to improve the quality of the language translation! If you have suggestions, the team can certainly try to get them incorporated into the software.

If you want to document some of your suggestions, it is usually easiest for us if you use something like a spreadsheet and put the original phrase in column A, then the recommended updated phrase in column B. That way we can quickly incorporate the suggestions.

On that note - if anyone else sees translations that seem incorrect in other languages, please let us know. There are many new phrases in V5, so I'm sure we have some work to do to perfect everything.

Thank for your answer

I will offer you a file with my proposals for the few terms that seem inappropriate to me (menu / before / proposal)

Re: Poor french V5 translation

Hello,

I spent a little time on the translation

to create a table with the "menu" "before" "after" columns, I couldn't use the copy-paste on the interface...

I had to make screenshots and recover the text with OCR (google lens), purge, format...too much work...

I'm OK to spend a little time on the subject, but not as much...

If you are interested in my proposal, provide me your english/french language file in excel format, and I will add the "correction" column

it's only "for the good cause..." because as far as I'm concerned, I work with the English version.

if you are OK, please send the file to the email of my customer account

I know before and after phrases are easiest for our team, but you could also just take a screenshot of the entire interface then add numbers on top of the screenshot for each phrase that needs to be corrected. For example, annotate the "Prepare to Print" button with a #1 on the screenshot, then add the correct phrase on row 1 of the spreadsheet. This way you are only typing the corrected phrases.
