Variable infill

I am having a problem with one of my designs where certain areas need to be stronger than others. To save on plastic I would like to change the infill threshold at various points in the model, so less critical areas can have little infill, and more stressful areas might have a 100% infill. Is this possible to do.

Re: Variable infill

I've been doing this with multiple processes. There are some downsides though but it's the best I've come up with.

The downside is that at the end and start of each process your bottom and top layers are printed. So if you have a large model and need 6 top layers but you start 1/2 way up with a different process it's going to waste 6 top layers and however many bottom layers switching processes. You can sometimes get away by setting bottom and top layers to 0 but if there are any features that stick out or whatever that trigger those layers all of a sudden you'll have no plastic there and ruin the print.

So on the big models I've been printing I switched back to doing them all in 1 process and instead In model design I cut off all the features I could have otherwise printed and glued them back on after printing them separately. That's annoying and doesn't always work but it saved hours of print time.
