Option to add pause to let the layer cool down

With some materials and even with PLA, sometimes it is needed to let the layer cool down and solidify. Adding an option to add a pause in seconds per layer will be very helpful. TOday's workaround is to print two objects layer by layer, so while theater one prints the previous one cools off. Can you guys please add this feature ?

You might be able to use the layer switch gcode to add some commands.
1) move extruder to wait spot
2) add wait command
I know for the marlin firmware there is a pause command at least. Can't recall off the top of my head which it is. Not sure how other firmwares would work.
I think the S3D gcode is all absolute positioned coords though so if you move the extruder it should still move back to the right spot and continue after the wait.

how do i do that ? sorry i am a total newbie. On the other hand another option is to print really slow i guess

On the process temperature tab there is a check for slowing down on layers that take less than a certain amount of time to print. I've only had marginal success with that though. What usually happens when I slow down is that the hot nozzle re-melts the plastic a layer or two below the current layer and makes the warping worse.
You might try adding a fan. If you don't have one small enough you can put a slightly larger one and just position it further from the printer.
As for the gcode, you'll have to look up what works for your printer and test it out. The spot to add it is on the layer switch tab on the scripts section.

I think the suggestions in the other thread you posted like this were pretty good, have you tried them?

I've tried layer switching code but I didn't have that great of luck with it. I think that was a problem with the model though. The process is sound enough to work.
