Factor 1,45

Hi,

I just purchased Simplify3d and I am happy with it for the most, but I run into a little snag, and am trying to understand it.

It is a issue, between two softwares, so I understand that you may not be able to help me, but.... (So I posted the same question on some other places as well)

I am making some small prints, and I need the measurement to be more or less correct.

I make the models with Openscad. I understand from other sources, and pre-Simplify3D experience that 1 unit corresponded to a mm (more or less).
After I am done with the model, I export it to STL, and import into the Simplify3d software.

This used to work fine before I started using Simlify3d.

Now using Simplify3D, there is substantial difference between a mm and a unit. I need to divide the size I want, say 10mm, by 1,45, to get an approx 10mm again in Simplify 3d. First I thought it was inches to cm, but that can't be right, since that factor is 2.54, which is completely different.

Did anyone run into this, and what could it be?

Any help appreciated.

Regards
D

Re: Factor 1,45

Ok, after more experimenting, it seems the issue is (maybe) correlated with when Simplify detects a "too small" object, and asks to do autoscaling on it.
I will do some more experiments, it's entirely possible that I got the numbers wrong it seems now like that (sorry for that), so maybe it's not Simplify3d, maybe it's just me.

Anyway, I post my further experiences here.

Another related question, is that when it says the imported object is very small, do I want to convert it to mm, if I then say "Yes", my object sometimes gets very large. If I say no, sometimes it turns out fine, sometimes the object is invisible.... Second try usually fixes it. Is that a known bug?

See my recent post on object scaling issue. Your problem may be related.

Thanks,
Steve
