When moving parts camera always snaps to top-center view

I already find the process of the camera snapping to the top view while translating parts frustrating. But as I try more complex print setups it's gotten worse:

I have many small parts on the build platform: I zoom up on one and go to move it to a specific location with the mouse. The camera switches to the top view, zoomed in, but not on my part: It appears to always zoom to the center/middle of the build platform. But if my part is say, on the top left, it's completely out of frame. Which means I need to zoom way out to be able to move it with the mouse, removing any move-accuracy. Plus since it's a perspective view rather than orthographic, it makes it even more difficult to line stuff up (I know these have been discussed in other posts, but I can't help bring it up again...).

I know I can move manually via the Model Settings window, but this is tedious since the scrollers have a fixed step size jumping the model around the platform in increments too large, which reduces me to entering numbers by hand.

Basically something that should be simple/intuitive has become to complicated. Please add an option to remove the 'camera snap to top view'.

Me too...

I think that could be solved with a Orthogonal view.
Why does that is not an option?!?

This thread is well over a year old. This was already fixed a long time ago. The view doesn't snap to top-down anymore when moving models. So just upgrade to version 3.x and it will be fixed.

If you're talking about something else, then I'd suggest starting a new thread
