automatic support creation misses many areas

I have several parts that are essentially symmetric. When I load them into Creator and select "manually define support for material" and then select "apply based on overhang angle" only 1/2 the features seem to be supported.

It seemed like version 1.1.1 didn't have this issue, but I had only dabbled with it a bit before updating.

I've been dabbling with this some more tonight, and have something to add to the observation.

The support that is generated automatically has a profile somewhat like a ribbon and is pretty easy to remove.

The support that is generated with the "manual" feature is used is a closed section with perhaps a rib through it and is much more difficult to remove.

I probably wouldn't have noticed it, but I end up with both methods of support generation on the exact same model due to the issue I raised previously where support generation fails on a symmetric part.

The automatic support material will be generated based on the grid spacing that you define. That essentially determines how small each individual support pillar will be. If you have a particularly complex part it may need smaller pillars to accurately represent it. There is a tradeoff with performance though, so don't use too small of a grid spacing unless it's really needed. We rarely have to use anything below 3mm in our lab.

And if you having difficulty with a specific object, please post your .factory file so that we can help.
