Dremel USB connection

My Dremel printer doesn't show up as a com port in the device manager. It shows up as a 3D printer. And in simplify3d I only get connection options for com ports. How or what is the process to connect to the Dremel through USB?

Thanks.

Did you install the dremel software by any chance? It could include drivers necessary for your printer. Open up the Machine Control Panel in simplify3d and when you plug the printer in, you should see the USB port automatically change to the USB device. Watch the communication tab, and post up here if it spits anything out to you and fails to connect. I don't think the dremel printer shows up as a virtual COM port

Yes. I had been using the machine for about a week before deciding that the Dremel stock software + meshmixer was not the way to go. At any rate, uninstalling the dremel driver and dremel software and re-installing it solved the issue. Everything is working great now.

Just one other bit of advice - you can only have one application connected to the printer at a time. So if your Dremel software was already connected, then Simplify3D wouldn't be able to communicate with it. So it sounds like reinstalling the driver was a good idea, just also be sure not to have 2 programs open at once that would talk to the machine.

I managed to resolve the issue. Very strange; I had to completely uninstall the driver and the dremel software then re-install it; now everything is happy and working nicely :)

Thanks for all your suggestions.
