Connecting TypeAmachine2014 with USB

I think S3D finds my typeAmachine2014 via USB (/dev/cu.usbmodem2013) , but the following is what the console reads:

RECEIVED: series1-1381 login: XYZ_@3D:
Attempting RTS reset and trying again...
Connection failed.
Attempting connection at /dev/cu.usbmodem2013...
Testing plaintext communication protocol...
RECEIVED: Password:
Testing binary communication protocol...
RECEIVED: ^C^@(^@·[r[H[J

RECEIVED: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS series1-1381 ttyGS0
RECEIVED:
Testing alternate communication protocols...
RECEIVED: series1-1381 login: XYZ_@3D:
Attempting RTS reset and trying again...
Connection failed.

My question is: how can I manually connect (SSH) both username and password of 'ubuntu' instead of just clicking 'CONNECT' that wouldn't allow me to do so? Also, is it possible to connect S3D with TypeAmachine via network connection?

Thanks!!

Re: Connecting TypeAmachine2014 with USB

Got it. The solution is to change the Firmware Configuration under the Tool menu. Serial Acknowledge - ubuntu

Good luck.

Re: Connecting TypeAmachine2014 with USB

With the newer type a machines, I.e. laser cut acrylic and white c frame body, you cannot connect over USB unless you open up the frosted white acrylic panel. The USB port is for the beaglebome black, an embedded Linux device that connects and controls the rumba electronics board for the 3d printer. Think of the beaglebone black as a middleman, that takes your gcode and feeds it to the rumba board. If you use a USB cable and connect it from your computer to the rumba board you can connect to it at 230400 baud rate
