Nozzle Dragging?

Morning! I'm having issues on my prints where the right nozzle is occasionally dragging on travel, and I'm not sure which setting I need to tweak to help prevent this. Any pointers/suggestions appreciated!

Re: Nozzle Dragging?

when you say occasionally dragging is that during an intire print or at random during a print.

to be honest I am trying to think of a setting that would vary the height during a print where it would have it lower than it should be.

of the top of my head and in my limited knowledge either the bed is warping due to heat or the nozzle assembly is loose.

I have had it where I've had over extrusion. where more material is coming so that it comes outside the area of the nozzle. I seem to get lines then. and as it progresses it seems to be dragging into the layers when infact it's the layers that are slightly higher because of the over extrusion.

however the only setting if any, that comes to mind to adjust the printing height for the first layer would be within the Gcode tabe and to the bottom left you can see offsets. I've used this to help me deal with my bed levelling. it only addresses height issues in the first layer as the subsequent layer would raise in accordance with the resolution you've set.

I am sure that some one on here might have a better idea but thought I'd throw my thoughts out there.

Re: Nozzle Dragging?

The nozzle dragging over the print could be the result of too much filament being deposited. Hence the nozzle is running through the build up... usually around the edges in a rectilinear filled solid section.

Too much filament being deposited could be varying filament diameters... usually larger than what you've set in S3D. Spot check your filament with calipers to remedy.

"Extrusion Multiplier" will also control the flow. If its too much, then set to less than 1. I'm usually at .9 or .8.

One other remedy for the nozzle dragging over the print is the "Retraction Vertical Lift" setting. This will pick up the nozzle and place it on the next island. Rather than shifting across the print and hitting previous layers.

Hope that helps!

I second KC's suggestion. Making sure you aren't over-extruding and use retraction vertical lift are great suggestions!
