Unable to slice multiple copies of a model

I have a model (unfortunately I'm unable to show it) that slices fine with 1 or 2 copies on the build platform. Takes about.. 10-20 seconds total. When I up that to 3 copies, when it gets to the "looking for overhangs" part, it hangs. I've tried multiple times rearranging them on the platform and re-slicing, but around the 10 minute mark I kill the process. Note during that time my processor is pegged around 99%, and my memory just keeps counting up, I hit 3 gigs at one point.

Anyone experienced this before? Since I'm unable to provide the model/factory file I realize this will be hard to troublesthoot. But because of time-constraints I need to print them in batches of 4 (so I can maximize my over-night printing), and right now the 2-batcher will mean I miss my deadline.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Few other things: This is a small crouching humanoid about 80mm tall (not that it matters so much).
I had all 3 models assigned to the same process. So I thought I'd try making a different process for each : Same bug still happens :S

Can't help you unless you can post a factory file. Why don't you try to find another model that does the same thing that you can actually share?

I've never experienced this before on any other model: I'm sure it's related to that specific model, but since it's internal IP I can't let the data out.

We decimated it (again) in zbrush. Whatever it did made it printable with more than 2 copies. Doesn't solve the bug, but I'm back on track.
