Minimize extruder swaps

Here’s my scenario. I have a dual extruder printer and I’m using extruder 2 for supports only. Is it possible to have the printer start with extruder 1 on layer 1, switch to extruder 2, and then print supports for layers 1 and 2 before switching back to extruder 1 to print layers 2 and 3, and so on?

My goal is to minimize ooze by cooling down the inactive extruder for as long as possible so that the temperature might actually drop enough to stop the ooze. It will also speed up the print by cutting the number of extruder swaps in half.

One idea might be to setup the supports as a separate STL and then use a different process for printing those. This way you could control the exact sequence using the normal S3D commands like reordering processes in the list.
