Ugly surface quality on SEAM placement (Optimized start point)

Previous (S3Dv4) versions of S3D performed way better hidding seams when the "Optimize start point" setting ws chosen. Now, under same settings, same file and same printer using same filament with S3Dv5.xx no matter what, I get UGLY surface quality related to seam placement using the "Optimized" setting.

I was wondering if setting this one to Outside-In will help in any way or... what is this setting for then?

...and answering myself nothing changed from inside/out outside/in so I'm open to further suggestions :/

I do not believe anything has changed with how the optimized start points are selected between V4 and V5, so I'm a bit surprised that you're saying they are behaving so differently. Can you attach a gcode file from V4 and V5 that shows the difference? It would help if you pointed out the specific layers or lines in the file that look like an issue.

I'd try checking your profiles for corruption.
Which is to say I'd remake the profile and/or see if the default profile gave the same issue. It sounds weird maybe but profiles can be corrupted in not so obvious ways and lead to various issues. If you do a forum search you can find several detailed posts about it.
Just eyeballing that pic I can see why you'd be agitated by that quality. That doesn't happen on my printers with v5 but I typically use randomize to avoid all the crap gathering in one area.
Anyways just thought I'd chime in...can't offer much else without seeing your profiles, etc. But thought I'd try to be helpful for once heh
