Workaround for 3D view hotkeys?

Does anyone have a workaround for the new restriction in ability to customize the view commands? I'm specifically talking about the pan function, as my laptop that does not have physical buttons somehow can't perform a right or middle click the way it's performed everywhere else in windows.

I was told to look in the hotkeys section, well...

I'm specifically looking for answers from members of the community who have found a way to work around this downgrade in capability as S3D themselves do not have a fix for this. Thanks in advance.

EDIT - For more clarity, yes I'm aware you can pick from a couple other program's control schemes, but there is no way to assign the pan command to anything other than a right or middle click.

Re: Workaround for 3D view hotkeys?

There is no way to change the 3D view controls other than the options already presented in the S3D preferences dialog. I'll certainly let other users chime in, but I don't think there's a solution other than what I suggested which would be opening a feature request for the new control scheme you want to see.
