What are your favorite new settings since ~v4.2?

So I've read the updates list but just the name of the thing they're achieving doesn't tell you what settings to manipulate to achieve that effect. For example, the features list mentions "anti-scarring" and 3 different setting changes are needed to achieve that effect. Minimize direction changes, force retraction on top layers, and the third I can't even remember (proving my point).

So what are your favorite new control options and how/when/why do you use them? Hopefully we can build a bit of a "here's what you should know to actually get your money out of v5" repository.

Re: What are your favorite new settings since ~v4.2?

In my own printing, I use several V5 settings almost constantly:
  • Layer tab > "restrict start points to preferred regions" (this enables automated seam hiding)
  • Infill tab > Dense Internal Infill (this adjust the density of the infill near the roof of the part, saving a lot of material usage)
  • Infill tab > Solid Infill Threshold Area (this setting determines when small islands will be automatically reinforced with solid fill, which has definitely made small delicate prints stronger in my experience)
  • Support tab > Support infill pattern (I've seen the grid pattern help a LOT with some of my taller prints that were previously too flimsy)

There are also a few settings only added in Version 5.1 that have helped a lot of parts with large flat top surfaces:
  • Infill tab > Iron Top Layers (this enables ironing, which helps for parts with lots of flat surfaces)
  • Advanced tab > enable "Only vertical lift on top layers" and go to Extruder tab > set Retract Vertical Lift to 0.5mm (changing both of these settings like you mentions enables Z lift only on the top layers, which also helps for parts with large top surfaces)

Those are may favorites, but interested to hear what other users like!
