Upper Raft?

I have some LEGO compatible objects that have raised bases. For example, one 2x2 connection is at that base which is level with the surface, while the other is two cubes higher, and requires LEGO pieces to be stacked underneath (there's a reason behind this madness). I'm using supports for the raised connection. Unfortunately, the little center hole, as well as the edges of the square come out slightly warped, while the one at the base is perfect smooth. Is there such thing as some kind of "upper raft" or something like that?

Also, any way to improve the underside of objects, so they don't have that "straw" kind of look/feel?

Thanks!

Re: Upper Raft?

Nope. The rafts are intended to be printed on the build table surface and not at an elevated height.

You might be able to do what you want with multiple processes so you can change settings at the interface (https://www.simplify3d.com/support/tuto ... f-a-model/).

I don't see why an elevated raft can't be programmed into the software, and it would greatly improve surface finish. Been saying this for years.

Re: Upper Raft?

I'm pretty sure that if you use a second process that starts at the hight you want and enable the raft it will print a raft at that hight. The problem would be making sure that it doesn't try to print the raft beyond the perimeter of the object you are printing. As always, experimentation is good. Just try it.

Re: Upper Raft?

Do you mean you want a raft at the top of a support structure? They have this option. Put dense layers on top, and specify whatever % (90?) and angle.
