Simplify3D User Forum

I'm new to 3D printing and have purchased a daVinci 2.0 Duo. I am able to print from CAD generated .stl files and from Thingiverse.
I am not happy with the print quality of this unit "as is" and I'm not a computer "geek". Would someone be really honest with me, would it be worth my money to install and use Simplify3D to substantially improve quality? Or should I consider selling this printer and buying a different brand and still use Simplify3D ?
I am a HO scale (1:87) model railroader and want to build items for my layout, detail is a "must".

There were very few settings in the stock XYZware software. S3D gave a ton more options to help improve print quality. I use the variable density supports all the time and some of their nice features for changing settings within a single print. It provides a lot more control and better print quality as a result.

I am "sold" on the SD3 software. It's the XYZ printer I'm not so sure about.

I have a 2.0 as well and have been tweaking and trying different settings, You can get real nice prints with it and S3D, just have to play with the settings.

fixes for the daVinci 1.0, I would like to see a listing of each S3D options full description.

The XYZ printers create really nice prints for the price. Those youtube videos above show some of the results. You can definitely get higher quality if you want to spend 4 times as much, but they are hard to beat at their price point.
