Simplify3D User Forum

Hey there,
I just recently switched from slic3r to simplify3d for my slicing needs.

I have a couple of issues that I was hoping someone could help me with.


I have a dual extruder setup, the 2nd extruder is located 25mm to the left of the main extruder (on the x axis); how do I communicate this information to simplify3d?

Also, I attempted a test print, but the extruder isn't activated during a print at all.
I attempted to activate the extruder in the Machine Control Panel and it worked fine.
Temperatures are working fine too.

I have fiddled with the settings for the last couple of days with no success, any help would be much appreciated please

What printer are you using?

You can set extruder offset using the M218 command in your starting script (read here: http://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.p ... m218#p7549)

Thanks for the link, it clearly explains how to use the M218 g-code, so thank you so much for that helpful link. Solves one issue.

I am using a reprap mendel with arduino mega using marlin firmware.
Still not quite sure why the extruder isnt working during print though.


Any links/advice will help.

Did you setup the profile on your own? Is it properly configured to turn on and heat up both extruders?

Why don't you post your factory file (file --> save factory file)

Hey Joe, I did set up profile. Everything seems to be working fine, both hotends heat up fine too.
But when the tool head moves along the toolpath, the extruder is just not pushing filament into the hotend.

I also attached my .factory file.

Hey, just an update.
- Issue is now resolved.
- For those who are having the same issue: Error is unknown. After tweaking with settings, it just started working. Not sure exactly what the issue was.

I have the same problem. Still not working (right extruder) but I will continue tweaking
