Simplify3D User Forum

Since switching to Simplify 3D I've generally been very happy with my prints but recently ran into an issue with a series of vertical "slashes" in the sides of my prints. These are all printed on a Replicator 1 with 3 perimeters, 15% infill, 4 bottom layers, 6 top layers. Any idea why I am getting these vertical gaps?

Post the factory file. It should be pretty easy to see from the preview if it is a problem with the gcode, or if this is a hardware issue that is causing it (i.e. the gcode instructions are correct). Either way, that's a pretty odd failure! I don't think I've ever seen anything like that!

Factory file is always best but from what i see as far as the holes in the base, your running too hot and you need to set your infill width a little higher. As for the split, that can be caused by too much coasting and negative restart distance. That will be enhanced by the excess heat as well. If you look at your gcode preview i bet that is where each extrusion starts and stops. I have also seen too much retraction cause this issue but not always.

Okay, I started with a new factory file, took the temp down from 230 to 225 and had a fan on the machines and now things seem fine. I also bumped up the infill width to 115%.
Seems better now.
