Change print speed and tempature by layer?

Is there a way I could I can configure the slice so I can print slower the first few layers and maybe lower the temperature in those layers?

Re: Change print speed and tempature by layer?

Changing the temperature for each layer is really easy. Just click "edit process settings", go to the Temperature tab, and add the different layer setpoints.

For example, if you wanted different temps for layer 1 and 2, and then you wanted to keep that layer 2 temp all the way until layer 5 where you made one final change, you would use the setpoints below.

Layer 1 - temperature 210C
Layer 2 - temperature 200C (this will hold until we change it again at layer 5)
Layer 5 - temperature 195C (this will hold for the rest of the build if we have no more setpoints)

If you want to change the print speed for the first layer, that is also really easy. Just adjust the "first layer speed" setting. If you want finer control than that, you will need to create multiple processes and set the speed for each process (read this if you really want to do that: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/tuto ... f-a-model/)

If I may ask, is there a way to bypass creating bottom layers when continuing a print with a second process? It's creating 5 bottom layers when I set it to 0 and 1. 0 would be ideal if you want to continue printing a hollow object.

Are you sure that isn't the top layers from the process before it? Let's say you have 2 processes. If you don't want any solid layers at the interface, then the lower process needs to have 0 top layers and the upper process needs to have 0 bottom layers. Although, I typically still let it do 1-2 solid layers since it can actually help improve the bond between the sections.

Would like to thank you again JoeJ. I have been getting some really nice prints with little to no warping playing around with these settings. And that's with big parts without a heated build plate. :)

Re: Change print speed and tempature by layer?

I have a problem I can't figure out. I have a set up where a build starts to have infill in a 3rd process. But when it starts printing at that hight, the layers shift. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No rafts or brims, one bottom layer, and 2 top layers on previous process. First layer speed at 100%

It might be the print speed. I was printing faster.
