Simplify3D User Forum

I'm trying to get a good print off a Taz 5 and I'm not sure what the proper settings should be. To start, here is where I've gotten so far. Any clues what I should be looking at for getting rid of those bumps everywhere? The model is a test model. A 40mm x 1mm ring, 0.1mm layer.

First of all, I would start with their TAZ4 profile. The 4 and 5 are very similar so that should be a great start.

If you are still seeing those problems when using the stock TAZ4 profile, I would suggest looking at your retraction settings, as that seems to be the most likely cause for the issues in your photos

Thanks for the input. Yes, I did start with the TAZ 4 profile. That and looking at the TAZ 5 profiles for Cura and Slic3r gave me some starting points. I then made some (uneducated) guesses from there. With that said, I now found some excellent explanations for each and all options in the Simplify3D Process Settings dialog (http://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2367), which finally gave me some base understanding. So, if somebody gets here as a result of a search, go to that link first. It's what the missing Simplify3D manual should be.

Another thing I found was a problem with the filament itself. I extruded some filament (Z way up and just let the filament extrude down) and when looking at it, I could feel bumps. A closer look revealed air bubbles everywhere. That's the result of using some cheap Chinese ABS I bought on eBay to use while I learn the whole 3D printing process from scratch. I now realize that is a waste of time. I've switched to PCTPE, which is the material I ultimately need to use and I will begin to test with it.

Sorry for the bad focusing. I didn't want to take the time to setup tripods and proper lighting and just hand held the camera.
