Hi, I've hunted around but can't find much reference to the Auto Configure for Print Quality settings on the Extruder page...

Does anyone know what this changes? Clicking on the different quality settings doesn't appear to alter layer height or anything else... also doesn't appear to be a preset as anything I change is changed across all 3 quality settings...

Does it do something differently whilst slicing or perhaps print slower? Anyone know?

It changes layer height, some infill settings, and even speed settings for some printers. Basically it adjusts settings that affect print quality.

The options included are actually ones that the S3D team already setup for that printer. You can even make your own if you want (i.e. "extreme quality!")

This helped me when I first delved into creating "Extreme Quality" type of options for my profiles. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1989

If you even follow along with it for a little, you'll get a up close and personal look at the exact settings that are set with the preconfigured quality options for your printer.

Hello Joe! I wanted to ask, if I have two items to be printed together on the same plate, and 'possible with Simplify 3D set different print settings for each of the two prototypes ??? and if you like you do '??? thanks! Alessandro

Thanks Joe... ok I can see that changing to Fast or High changes the Layer Height to 0.3mm and 0.1mm respectively.

Not sure if this is a bug (or by design) but there doesn't appear to be a way to get back to Medium once you have clicked on either of the other radio buttons... ie I start on Medium (0.2mm layer) and can toggle between Fast/High presets, but there is no way back to medium (0.2mm) unless I change it manually.

Works for me... Did you edit or export the profile or something? If so, just open the .fff file in a text editor, scroll to the bottom, and make sure all your autoConfigure sections are filled in

It has never worked for me either. The "medium" always vanishes together with the layer setting.
Has done so in all versions, and it does not help to reset settings.

I Really thought it was a nice thing, but as it has never worked i never looke more into it. don't think someone should have to use
another program (editor) to fix a thing when it should work.

Hi, yeah I agree with AndersE...

I've got the software installed on 2 notebooks... both do the same, Medium setting just doesn't work.

Surely it should be remembered as a preset... and we should be able to configure our own Fast, Medium and High Quality configurations... and switch between them? Otherwise just rather remove it if it doesn't work.

It works fine for me. Did you check to make sure your medium autoConfigureQuality section is actually filled in? You have to tell the software what settings you wish to adjust for each auto configure option. Just export the .fff file and look at it in a text editor. They give you suggestions on what they would do for the other quality options, so you can just copy and modify as needed for Medium
