Extruder Primes Off Bed

I'm using a Monoprice 3D printer which is just a rebranded Flashforge Creator clone.

I have my Process Profile set to FlashForge Creator Dual but whenever I start a print, the g-code primes the extruder off the side of the bed. If it wasn't for the extra hangover painter's tape, it would end up at the bottom of the chamber.

Any idea what's wrong with my settings?

Re: Extruder Primes Off Bed

nothing is wrong. that is the default start script. it will move off the bed, purge the nozzle then do a slow wipe on the edge of the bed to scrape off the filament then begin printing your part. why would you want big blob of filament on the bed surface or even stuck to your nozzle? you can design your own start script if you dont like it.

Re: Extruder Primes Off Bed

I never had a problem with this until v3.

My FF Creator Pro used to extrude before jobs on the left side of the bed, where there was plenty of room and no problems.
In v3 this has been moved to the right side of the bed, where the left extruder is too close to the edge of the bed, and ends up extruding into a pool of liquid plastic, which then gets dragged all over my print.

How can I modify the config to make to go back to extruding on the left side of the bed before print?

Goto the scripts tab of FFF Settings. You can make whatever alterations you wish. In 3.0 it should be doing a wipe across the bed instead of stationary pringin off of the bed.

I'm afraid I'm not versed in Gcode, so wouldn't know where to start on that :(
I appreciate the guidance so far however.

i have a 3dp as well, upgraded from 2.x to 3.x and it moves to the left side (lookiong from front of machine to back), then wipes across the front of the bed, left to right.

i did find when i ran the reset on the preferences new things appeared, like the makerbot model,.

pretty much using the standard monoprice 3dp setting in simplify3d. firmware id?

Post / attach the start script for the printer.

In general, you'll be looking for the X and Y coordinates after the home... I'm guessing its going to be a X-5 Y0 E### or something to that effect. Just change the X coordinate to a value of 1 or whatever before the "scrape".

Re: Extruder Primes Off Bed

I never minded the off HBP purge on my rep1. After a few months it's quite a pile of straight strings on the bottom. Kind of a badge of honor for me. But on my rep2 with an oversize HBP the purge is on the glass and sometimes can be problematic. The nozzle is at minimum height and the purge just forms a large goober around the nozzle. Most of the time it will stick to the plate and the hot nozzle drags through. If it doesn't then things can go wrong because of the loose material being pushed around. What I'd like is for the purge to happen well above the plate then the head move and the plate raise. We need pruge control. :)

It's all in the starting script. Just edit it to purge in the air and then lower down like you suggested.

For now, their default script is working fine for my stock printer (no mods)

Yeah I'm glad the gcode for this was fixed. Version 3.x brought the front prime line - which I prefer. The problem I originally posted about was still on 2.x.
