How do you arrange parts on the printing bed?

When I drop the parts in they automatically go in but I am unable to change the orientation. Some parts go in vertical and would be better if I could put them in laying down. But how to manipulate them?
I know “Alt-Left” rotates the model but in only one axis. How do I rotate in all axis and how do I lay the part flat on the printing bed? I am looking for some type of CAD functionality for positioning parts. Is there a step by step other than the Quick Start Guide?

Just double click on part.

zebrajack,
Have you found this? If you double-click the part after you import / drop / arrange, you get the Model Settings dialog. This box has entries that allow you position and rotate the part in all three axes. See the attached screenshot of the Model Settings box.
Sorry for the green tint. My screenshot software seems to be capturing its own highlighting.... D'ohh!
