Dual printing slower than needs to be????

I am starting to do a lot of dual printing. Since i use metal filament, which is expensive, I generally use a similar colored pla as the infill as that is generally quite a bit cheaper and keep the metal for the surface layers. One thing I've noticed tho is that it prints each shell, changes to the pla and then prints the infill. This great for solid objects like a cube but for objects where each layer may have multiple seperate perimeters, it takes an awfully long time because there is a noticeable pause of 2-3 secs every time the active toolhead changes. I understand that the perimeters have to be printed before infill, but would it make sense to have an option to order all of the operations by filament instead shell?
