3.0.1 - Is the Z-offset ignored? (+ V3 Rant)

I used to get awesome prints with a Z-0.05 / -0.07 offset, however, now even with -0.12mm - I get normal prints

Considering a layer is 0.2mm - with -0.12mm I should be over-extruding noticeably

I'm using a Robo3D R1 with auto-levelling, I guess upgrading to V3 was a huge mistake, the V3 seems better than V2 (obviously better), yet all my workflows were broken, and there was no warning either, all my profiles are gone, all my methods are producing different results now

I would really appreciate a swift answer to this issue, I need to complete these prints fast, I'm running out of my black PLA spool, and my machine might start requiring servicing again

Long story short, how do I print into the plate to generate awesome surface textures now?
(I think the issue might be related to layer height calculations and rounding differences, the printer precision is supposedly 0.1mm, likely <0.1mm, the V3 might be ignoring my <0.1mm offsets for some reason)

when you start a print, in the machine control panel, zero out the read out for the z axis. it will tell you where the z is at and if its being ignored. i personally haven noticed anything. if you want to get tighter to the bed then adjust the printer so it homes at the correct z height you want. i assume if you lost your profiles you didnt ever save them?
