[FIXED] Odd Windows 10 issue

After awhile my Preview Mode window goes completely black and I have to kill the program and restart it to get it back. Prints will continue fine after it has gone black, but I just wanted to post about this bug.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Odd Windows 10 issue

The only time I have seen this in the past was from people with bad or buggy graphics drivers. I'm guessing there's some bugs with the video drivers in Windows 10, which isn't surprising considering how nvidia, ati, intel, etc all have to update all their old hardware drivers for the new system.

FWIW - the preview works fine on my Windows 10 box, so that's more evidence to confirm its driver related

These types of things are to be expected when you're on the bleeding edge ;)

Understood, just curious. I will update once a new driver comes out again

Re: Odd Windows 10 issue

I have the same problem.. I never close my PC.. so, when i'm not there, it goes in sleep mode (not hibernate) if I do a "Windows key" + L (lock screen). When I come back, everything is main window in simplify is black (work & preview).

I hade windows 8.1 before and that was not a problem.

*But* the behavior was present if I did a remote desktop into my machine and Simplify was open (it always is).

Could this problem be related to the new DirectX 12 on Windows 10 ?

Not sure, but I was having other odd behavior. Prints would just randomly stop at the weirdest points and not finish so I have reverted back to Windows 8.1 for the time being

You can select the app, go to properties, and select that it runs as 8.1 style even on windows 10. I am running windows 10 and having no issues..... yet.

Re: Odd Windows 10 issue

In my case, rebooted after the update, opened Simplify3D andlocked the screen, when i came back, simplify was black again... so the windows update did not correct the issue

Re: Odd Windows 10 issue

I'll give you my experience. I updated to Windows 10 on a laptop that had Windows 7 Pro on it. I've done nothing special or forced any updates. I've just ran Windows Update and let it do its thing. I've printed two very long prints (over 8 hours each) without any issues at all. S3D is performing perfectly for me.

I had this same problem after a Win 10 update from Win 7. I never had any issue printing from USB on Win 7. With Win 10 the print stops randomly for 3 to 10 seconds every few minutes. Sometimes the extruder still pumps out filament making a nice blob. I'm reverting back to Win 7 for now, but it would be nice to see how common this problem is and whether there is a fix.
