cant ungroup from factory file

i have found if i load a factory file that has multiple items, i close that file out and come back to it later they appear to be grouped. they cant be ungrouped and individually selected, deleted or modified. currently i have 6 parts on my build plate, all duplicated from 1 object. everything works fine when i initially set up the file but when i reload the file its loaded as if its one single stl. all items are highlighted with only one item highlighted in the left side bar. tried ungrouping and separate connected surfaces. only solution is to delete the models, leave the processes then reload the model and re duplicate.

well i tried the steps you said and it doesn't seem to happen to me. it isn't magically grouping things like you mentioned. All of the parts are still separate items in the list just like I would expect.
I wonder if we're doing this differently though. What do you mean by when you "come back to it later"? Do you mean that you re-open the factory file? Or reopen the software? or something else?
if you can get this to happen every time, give some more detailed instructions and ill see if it happens on my machine too

ok this is on osx version. if i make a file with a bunch of duplicates, save as a factory file then close it out and set up a different print. now i want to reload the first factory file again, asks if i want to save the current settings, select no then factory file loads. all the items at this point are selected and i can only deselect everything or nothing even with only one item highlighted in the model list.
edit: just tried it on pc version with totally different files and same thing

not happen for me either. I imported a part, duplicated it 5 times, then saved the factory file. then I opened a different factory file, made some changes, and then went to re-open the original one. It asked if I wanted to save, I said no, then the original factory file opened. I was able to select the individual parts just fine.
so it's working fine for me, unless you're actually doing different steps than that

is there grouping involved or something else you didn't mention?

no thats pretty much the process. does it on my mac and my pc so far with every factory file, every time. i can individually select them in the model side bar on the left but all models are always highlighted on the build plate or i can deselect everything then none are highlighted of course but then i go and click on just one model in the side bar to select it then they all light up on the build tray.
i just tried something else. i made my file with a few parts on the plate. saved as a factory file. after the save i didnt even load a different file i just grabbed the same factory file i just saved, dragged and dropped it into s3d, save settings...no, it loads the file and every model is highlighted. i cant individually select.
i made a video showing pc and mac
excuse the shakey vid. kinda tough holding an iphone while clicking and typing.

Odd, doesn't happen for me either. Can you post a factory file that does it? You can just use simple parts, since it sounds like this happens to your for any part that you duplicate

sorry joe for not getting back to you on this. i cant post either one of those particular files so i took just some random parts and tried but it worked normally as it should. let me dig a little and see if i can come up with a file. figures the one time i try and do it to post and it wont do it. i have had the issue i thought with every factory file but perhaps not. if not i can say its alot of them. i will need to see what triggers this then ill post something up.
