Writing toolpath

My software is stuck on the "writing toolpath" command when I try to preview the print. I'm not sure what went wrong because I printed something without problems this morning, but now it gets stuck on "writing toolpath" and honestly I'm not even sure what that means. This might be an easy fix, I'm just very new to 3D printing and am trying to figure out things as I go. I am using Simplify 3D in tandem with a MakerGear M2 printer. Any and all help and suggestions are welcome. Thanks you!

Re: Writing toolpath

It means the program got stuck writing out the GCode for the part you just sliced. Were you writing to an SD card or directly to the printer? Whichever one it was, check communication with the receiving device to make sure your systems can write to it successfully.

Re: Writing toolpath

I was using a usb drive that's plugged into the computer that the printer is plugged into. I tried unplugging and re plugging in all of the chords, and they all claimed to be connected, so I'm not sure how to fix the issue.

Re: Writing toolpath

Well I've tried unplugging and plugging back in all of the cables, and nothing seems to work. And all of them claim to be connected and reading, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Re: Writing toolpath

Is it a large file that you are trying to write? If it is, test with a small simple part, just to make sure it isn't related to the file size.

Also make sure you are writing to something simple like your Desktop so that we don't have to worry about permissions issues. If you were trying to write to some protected folder, it might not allow the software to create files there. Also make sure that you have enough free space on the hard drive.
