Applying processes to specific volumes

We can easily apply different process settings to two different objects to slice them differently. Is there a way to apply process settings to a specific volume region? For example, if you have a whistle (e.g.: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1046), you may want to make sure the walls are airtight (many perimeters and high infill), but the ball inside is as light as possible (few perimeters and low infill). It's all one stl file, and the object that needs the different slice settings is inside the outer object so I can't (easily) split it out into a separate object. If I did, I'd have to position it in space in exactly the right place.

Suggestions? Request a feature? Or is there a capability already present that I"m not aware of?

I would just make the ball a separate STL file. Then you can setup multiple processes to use different settings for each part.

Just be sure to use the "Select Models" button for each process to define what models that process should apply to (one process should apply to the whistle only, while the second process applies to the ball only).
