Recommend a better printer?

Hi folks,

I am getting extremely fed-up with my apparently defective Da Vinci 2.0 Duo printer and am considering upgrading. I bought Simplify3D and it is awesome, so whatever printer I buy next needs to be compatible.

Pretty much my only requirement right now is reliability. It just needs to work, no more mid-print cancellations, no more thirty-hour calibrations, pure functionality. Anyone got a good recommendation?

Makergear M2. Mine has been running most nights for two years.

I have had two flashForge printers (an original and a Pro) for about a year now. They run almost everyday and I am extremely happy with them. So much so that I just ordered a 3rd FlashForge Pro. I do highly recommend upgrading to a glass print bed though.

In all fairness though I have never used any other printer so I can't compare.

I built my own because the "manufactured" one I bought had daily issues. I'm now about 680 hours use without an issue. It was also a lot of fun.

Me, too, and same here. The major issue when building your own is to understand that the cheap Chinese nozzles and heat breaks are pretty lousy, and if you use them you need to do some finish polishing of the bore (it makes a WORLD of difference).

Real E3D, Prometheus, Pico, etc. parts seem to work great.

Re: Recommend a better printer?

There are so many printers out there at the moment it's hard to nail down an exact model or brand. The most important question to answer before selecting a new printer is "what do I print?". From there narrow down the list based on print size and reviews.

Flashforge and Makerbot are two to look at first. (avoid the Dreamer mine runs the electronics at the limit)(Flashforge has had good support for me).

I also have a Formlabs Form 1+ and I like it a lot but it costs a lot in materials. Prints are great with the laser or DLP printers but the resin cost is a bit high still.
