May be someone can explain, what wenr wrong.

There's a lot of problems with that STL file. You can see some of them pretty easily if you turn on the wireframe view and look on the inside.

You are not the only one having these problems when using S3D.
I use several slicers and purchased S3D as I needed to do some parts that I could not do using my "standard" slicers but S3D could, mainly due to support issues.
If you try this part in kisslicer you probably find all is good.
I had a look at your file in S3D, Kisslicer and Netfabb, but no problems where reported by any of those.
S3D is good BUT you really need to check your sliced results before you hit print.
There are some files that are not printable using S3D unless you have a nozzle 0.1mm or less, but the "other" slicers will do the job just fine.
I understand that if a part has parts less than 0.2mm and your nozzle or filament is wider than this....ok maybe it should not be printed unless you have a machine with a microscopic nozzle but who has?
So, to sum it up, make sure you check your sliced results twice before you hit print when printing smaller parts and parts with small details using S3D.

It has been mentioned and requested if it could be possible to have a warning in S3D when parts of file is omitted when sliced. Not sure what the response is or was.

S3D is good but you need more than one tool in your kit and Kisslicer is an absolute must.

The online STL repair is good, I will use it more in future. As IceMan mentioned - I did slice the part with KiSSlicer without any problems. Some warnings about problematic STL files would be really helpfull.
I tried few slicers - Slic3r, Kisslicer and now buy Simplify3d. Since change my RepRap to dual extruder - I see Simplify3D as the best. Also the support structures are the best. And I hope they will take in account our suggestions and will make the app even better.

That is a nice part - a piece of a transmission would be my guess. The extra-wide spline part is a surprise - I've never seen anything like that before and wonder why it is made like that.

Here is a screenshot of the part sliced with Craftware, my favorite slicer. I sliced it with no supports to get a better idea of what the part really looked like. The white triangle is part of Craftware's display module.
I have Kisslicer too - it was the first one I more or less standardized on, but have switched to Craftware because of its really fast slicing time and excellent visualization capabilities.

Quite an interesting difference. Obviously I have got no idea why or even how this could happen.

I'd like to correct this statement...

For any printer driven by any slicer, any parts or areas of parts that should be thinner than one filament width will actually be printed at that one filament width.....so interlocking or fitted parts may not fit!. That is, apart from S3D, which will not print anything oversized!

Bbinnard - this is the gear for Philips mixer - actually there is a pair of them. The stright gear connect them together, the helical gear is used by the motor. Inside there come fixer parts for mixer spades. I guess the extra-wide spline is made to keep them in the same position all the time.

I am not an expert - that is how I manage to draw it on FreeCAD. But Kisslicer and Slic3r was able to slice it successfully with all the details.

This is a behavior........... feature, call it what you like....of Simplify3D. Read all about it in this thread in the Feature Request section:

This is NOT a fault where things are being deleted. It is the way the slicer WORKS at the present! If a web is thinner than the filament width, the slicer does not print it..its as simple as that!

I would like this behavior to be switchable..so that those who want ACCURATE prints will be able to see what is too thin to print....and for those who are not fussy about getting INACCURATE prints get webs no thinner than a filament width..

I took a look at a few of these files to see if I could help.

The issue with the gear STL file that the original author attached is that it's actually 2 separate STL files in one mesh! I took a screenshot to illustrate this. So you are essentially telling the software to treat both of these parts as a single mesh, which isn't correct. That single mesh would have many self-intersecting surfaces since you actually have 2 parts squished together that overlap. The software identifies a bunch of these problems if you go to Repair > Identify Self Intersecting Surfaces. So that's why the problem is occurring. Thankfully, there is also a very easy fix. Just go to Mesh > Separate Connected Surfaces. When you do this, the software will analyze your mesh and check to see if it is actually made up of multiple parts. In this case it is, so it will break it up into two separate models. Now the software properly knows that there are two models. If you slice at this point, everything works as you would expect (see screenshot). So moral of the story is that if you encounter an issue like this, it would be good to check the mesh to make sure that you truly have one single water-tight STL file, and not multiple overlapping files in a single mesh. I think some other programs run the Separate Connected Surfaces command automatically every time you import a file, but in S3D you just have to click this yourself if you think that is the problem.
