Gcode Macros disappear

I've tried creating macros several times, but they eventually disappear. I'm referring specifically to entering gcode in Tools -> Firmware Configuration -> Macros. The macros I create become available to me in the "Machine Control Panel". However, my macros disappear after a few uses. I think they disappear when I update my profile settings, but not sure. Can I explicitly define these macros in the *.xml file?
