Multiple processes with duel extrusion.

Not sure if what I want to do is possible and if so, how to do it, so thought I would ask here. I have a model that starts with a 2mm plate then above that a more intricate design that needs support. I have used two processes as the plate can be printed faster with a larger layer height than the rest of the model. The problem is that because the top is intricate, I'm having trouble removing supports. I thought of using PVA for the supports, but in the past, I've had trouble with PVA supports that start on top of PLA. I have no problem with PVA supports starting on the glass bed. I read that PVA will do better with a larger base area, so I thought what if after the initial baseplate of the model, I lay down a thin slab of PVA (about 2 layers) and build the supports on that. This is where I get a little out of my depth lol. I've used the duel extrusion wizard to print and I have used multiple processes, but can I combine both of those in one print? And if I can, I'm not sure how to go about it lol.
