Unnecessary filling?

Hi,

First of all simplify3d is an awesome slicer, howecer I am having some issues, perhaps just me not knowing which features to use.

As you can see on the image it draws outside the outer shell of the part, where the two parts are supposed to be attached together if that makes any sense. And the holes are getting a single layer of filling, so the holes are not going through the part.

Thank you. :-)

That usually indicates a problem with the mesh. Can you post your factory file (go to File > Save Factory File)?

It looks like there is a lot of errors with the mesh. S3D finds all kinds of self-intersecting surfaces. I would suggest running the model through this site to repair it: https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/

Thank you will try that :) funny thing is I tried slicing the same stl in s3d before, and it was fine. Can the mesh get messed up after storing the file in onedrive for example?

:)

no but how you have the setting will make it slice differently. it depends on if the layer lands right where an error is. sometimes changing the layer height slightly will give different results. in any case though, its a bad model and needs to be corrected

Oh okay I see. If everything else fails I would be able to patch it up using CAD software I suppose? :)
