Using Cross Section to make a part

While printing a 3 hour job, the extruder jammed 15mm from the end of job at 148.3mm.

I can use the cross section option in S3D to accurately locate the point of failure and would like to be able to print only the last 15mm as a separate object which I can then glue onto the rest of the piece that has already printed.

I can't seem to figure out how to select just the last 15mm and drop it to the table in order to generate the GCODE to print that part separately.

Is this possible?

Just drop the model 148.3mm below the build platform. The software won't print anything that is below the build platform, so just double-click on the part and decrease the z-axis offset until only the top portion is above the platform.

OMG! Thank you for that. I did not realize you could do that. I had never double clicked on the object. I see now that it brings up a whole lot of options. Excellent!

In that case, I would also strongly recommend checking out their youtube channel, because there's some great introductory videos on there, including one that talks about the model settings panel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... DJpQBVf-Ss
