I am attempting to print test threads by making a cylinder, creating the threads I suspect I will use, then exporting from Autodesk Inventor 2015 to STL. My model is showing the threads in Inventor.
When I import the model into S3D, it is simply a cylinder. Yes, I cross-section viewed and looked carefully, they are definitely not there after import.
Any ideas where to start?
They are not small threads, 78x2mm ISO Metric female.

I'd say to check the .stl file in a few of the many free .stl-file viewers and checkers out there, to figure out if the problem is in S3D or the file itself.

You know what, I thought a thread is a thread, but it's like in Inventor, the thread I applied is simple a graphical rendering! When I cross section the part there, I can see that it's the same thing, a cylinder. Apparently, whatever they have the multiple lists of thread sizes for in Inventor, they are for "graphical modeling" purposes only. It looks like to actually create the thread, I need to create the cross-sectioned profile, and then rotate that around the main shaft as an extrusion cut. It looks like here, the real problem was me not paying close enough attention to the way Inventor behaves.
