any way to export Simplify3D printer profiles and settings?

I worked for several weeks tweeking the printer profiles and settings to my liking. Then tonight, i moved to my laptop to work from the couch, and i realized that I don't have all the profiles that I know and love from my other computer. Do we have an official way to export the settings?

I've found the QSettings ini settings file at $HOME/.config/Simplify3D/S3D-Software.conf which contains the Qt encoded QVariants and QByteArrays. The default QSettings format for Windows is in the registry and OSX is in plist files. So I don't think that we'd be able to just copy the ini around between computers, especially with differing operating systems or Qt versions.

Yes, very simple. Just go to File > Export FFF Profile.

Is this the best way to save profiles? I may be looking to save multiple profiles as I work into more exotic filaments...

I noticed however, when I imported a file I exported it just brought it in under its own name. Is there a step I need to do before hand? Do I need to save a profile within S3D first, then export it?

If you're creating a new profile every time you're working with a new filament, you're doing it wrong. You can put all of that information into a single profile which makes it much easier to work with. This explains the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFynhtvPBPQ

Are we really doing it wrong? When it's easier to make a new printer for each filament is it really the user who is "doing it wrong"?
