Windows 10 november 2015 update

Windows has released a major Windows 10 update on Thursday.
One of the fixes is better connectivity with USB devices.
I wonder if the USB connection problems some people experienced are now gone with this update?

This is at least a good sign that microsoft is aware of the issue and working on it. People had reported these problems all the way back since their developer previews, but they didn't do anything about it for a long time. At least now MS is trying to fix it.

I'm still having this issue.

I've got a CTC 3d printer, with Simplify3d, and I upgraded to Windows 10 two days ago, and now it just pauses on layer 2, like the description below; if I look at the comms logs, I can see the communication just stops., and occassionaly I see actual communication failures, this problem was never encountered on Windows 7 3 days ago. I've read through a few posts etc.. but can't find many people still experiencing it, and/or not talking about it any more.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, but to be honest, am I just right in assuming I have to wait for fix, but Ishould be able to compile gcode, and print from SD card, as a tempory work around?

Again.....any links to evidence of this? I've Googled at least twice on separate occasions and found no references at all to 3D printer USB issues.

There's many threads about this on this forum and others. It was reported way back when the developer previews were first released, and they still haven't fixed it. It causes random disconnects which really screws up USB printing. Many people reported not even being able to upload the firmware to their electronics, because Windows 10 would disconnect during the process and screw everything up. So it affects more than just 3D printers, it's a generic USB serial issue. Here's one example thread on the topic, but there are MANY others:

I'm not sure that their recent update fixed anything, but it's at least good that Microsoft is aware and working on it. For now, if you have an SD card, you should print from that. We will keep our fingers crossed that microsoft fixes things in the future.

thanks for the link to the thread. they obviously were unaware this was still going on. since i am an insider i posted in the thread letting them know this is a big issue.

It's been an issue for a long time. I know several others who have reported it in various ways (support, dev accounts, bug trackers, etc). Microsoft responded several times saying they were aware of the problem, and that they can even easily reproduce it themselves. So I'm pretty sure they know about it.
