Infill Strength

Has anyone done any objective experiments to determine what the strongest infill pattern is?

Compression Strength

Tensile Strength

Sheer Strength

I know more shells and more infill will make a part stronger, but which infill gives the most bang for the buck?

Just curious. It would be fun to do these experiments if I had the tools.

EngineerDog.com did some testing and found the following:
The rectilinear infill pattern is the most efficient use of plastic and it also prints at the fastest rate! (The first part was unexpected!) The other two most useful infill patterns, hexagonal and 3D honeycomb, were slightly weaker in terms of yield stress per unit weight of plastic used. They also took 30% longer to print than rectilinear.
