Started using LEFT extruder....small issue

I have a Flash Forge Creator Pro Clone.

Since I got it I had been printing only with the right extruder.

Yesterday I decided to start printing with the Left extruder for two reasons... to make sure it worked before the warranty runs out and to print with a different color filament.

Basically it does ok but there is a small issue.

On every print with the Left extruder there seem to be small (5mm) sections of filament deposited randomly on the print.
This is usually on the first two layers, on an outline.

Sometimes this bit of excess filament will get in the way so that when the head comes back around and hits it, it lifts a part of the first layer off, and ruins the print. It's like a little unexpected "squirt" of filament.

I use the exact same file and the exact same settings as on the right extruder and simply change all the settings in the Process to use the Left extruder.

This never happens with the right extruder. Any idea what could cause this and the cure?

Just watch the first 2 layers closely next time you print. Should be quite easy to see where this extra bit of filament comes from.

I always use a few skirt outlines to get my nozzle primed before printing. It also helps clean the nozzle before the actual part begins. You may want to try adding more skirt outlines to make sure the nozzle is fully cleaned and primed.

Re: Started using LEFT extruder....small issue

I have been noticing the same thing; though I haven't used the right extruder much at all. I have only printed with PLA so far and noted the fan was on the left side so I have been stubbornly changing the defaults to use that extruder. But What I notice is the skirt sometimes fails to 'let go' when it is done and the end gets dragged over a bit and sort of gets broken off but in the area where the print is now happening. Then as the hot end comes around to the area where the excess filament is just laying there it will grab it and it sometimes causes problems with the print -- other times it is fine (just sort of disappears somewhere). In any case you are not alone. I may try to switch to the right extruder though -- based on your experience.
