svchost.exe causing simplify3d not to start

I found another forum post about a week ago that had the same problem with simplify3d taking a very long time to launch and it didn't look like it was resolved. I have Windows 10 and I don't have this problem with any other programs that I run. What I have noticed is that if I launch the program it will appear to not be running although if I look at the task manager I will see it. Then it can take anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes for the program to come up if I do nothing. If I go into the task manager, go to the details tab, right click on the Simplify3d process and choose analyze wait chain, I can see that it is waiting on svchost.exe to do something. If I click the check box next to the svchost.exe process and end that process then Simplify3d comes up immediately after that and works with no problems. Is there anyway you can help me figure out why this is happening as it is annoying to have to open up task manager each time to get it to run.

I'm pretty sure that's what Windows Defender (anti-virus) shows up as. I wonder if it's doing some kind of intense virus scan before it allows the program to open? That would definitely cause the slow down.

Thanks for the tip, I added an exclusion to Windows Defender to see if that has any impact. May have been a coincidence but, the application started up immediately this time. I'll post back if this fixed my problem for good after using it for a few days.

You could try adding the S3D executable name(s) to the exclude list in Norton, so they won't get checked each time you run them.
