Bridge detection logic flaw

First, let me just say that I am aware of this thread on the same subject: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2518
However, that thread is locked, so I can't post to it.

This issue is still there, look at this:

Simplify3D chooses the worst possible bridging direction. Then if I rotate the model about the z axis by 1 degree, I get this:

Now it chooses the correct bridging direction, and for my purpose this will be OK, but I don't really want to print my model like this. Rotating it 90 degrees doesn't help, it still chooses the dumbest bridging direction.

Can you post your factory file?

I can't be certain from the picture, but I have a feeling that the entire bridging region is printed over thin air. So there's really no "good" direction since there's nothing at all to support it from below.

You are correct that there is no support underneath the bridge, hence it needs to bridge... :-)

However, there are two long walls (as the pictures shows), and bridging between these will work nicely, provided the bridging happens in the short direction. Lengthwise bridging is clearly illogical here.

I've attached a factory file. Try slicing it like it is, and then rotate the model 1 degree about the z-axis and reslice.
