Can't print without a raft

I can't figure out what is going on, hoping someone can help.

I'm pretty new to this whole thing but I've managed a few successful prints. I have a FlashForge Creator Pro and if I use the ReplicatorG software it came with, I can print directly to the bed, no problem. If I use Simplify3D, I have to lay down a raft or else the extruder just starts printing but the plastic just wads up around it and doesn't actually stick to the bed. If I print the same object but use a raft, it works no problem.

I can't figure out why a raft will adhere to the bed but the object will not. At this point I'm guessing its something in the gcode?

Anyone have any ideas?
