Newbie Q: Compatibility with Monoprice Maker Architect?

I am an absolute newbie to 3D printing, and took the plunge just before Christmas when Monoprice offered its single-extrude Maker Architect printer for a ridiculously low price. So now I'm trying to sort out software compatibility issues. Monoprice recommends ReplicatorG, but as I quickly discovered, it has not been under active development since 2012, and it doesn't appear to be very user friendly. I've come across Simplify3D, and although not eager to drop a bunch of money on a software package I didn't expect to need, I am now seriously considering it. However, the compatibility list for Simplify3D doesn't list any specific Monoprice printers (just "Monoprice 3D Printer"), and it doesn't list the Wanhao Duplicator 3 (not the i3), which is what I believe is the actual make and model of the printer that Monoprice rebrands as the Maker Architect.

The Maker Architect requires that its files be in .x3g format, which I am coming to understand isn't very common. Can anyone clarify whether this printer would actually work with the Simplify3D software? And can I print to it directly from Simplify3D using a USB cable?

Thanks.

Yes, it should be compatible with ANY of the monoprice printers. The software already supports x3g files and all the USB communication styles for those printers. You can print directly over USB or place the files on the SD card.
